Wedding at Cougar Mountain

31 Oct

Cougar Mountain wedding

We photographed a great wedding at Cougar Mountain near Issaquah, WA, recently. Raven and Sean chose a great location which lent itself to great photographs.

The preparations went well, with the bride getting ready offsite, while the groom stayed at the park to get ready.

Last weekend was graced with classic sunny summer weather here in Seattle, so I thought I’d take a ride up to Mt. Rainier for the day.

Here are a few images from the ride.

July PhotoBooth and Dead Baby Bike Club Exhibit

20 Jul

What do you get when you combine a multi-medium artist, photography, an aerialist, our studio, lots of chalk, and the ArtAttack!?

Distorted Perspectives from the Vecta PhotoBooth.

Just another art walk at Vecta, apparently! And awesome it was. The photobooth images can be found here. As always, the cost to access your photos is simply five taps on your keyboard: vecta

Well, six if you count hitting enter. But whatever.

How about another riddle? What do you get when you combine Vecta and Seattle’s most storied underground bike club for a night of cycling-inspired creative madness? You get this:

It’s going to be a bicycling exhibit like no other. That much we can guarantee as this event will be the precursor for the annual Dead Baby Downhill – quite possibly the single greatest party in all of Seattle. This will be something you do not want to miss. We’ll be opening the studio en force on Friday, July 29th at 6:00pm. Come one, come all and celebrate 15 years of two-wheeled fun between the legs of Seattle.

The exhibit will carry on through August 6th on a limited basis, but Friday the 29th will be the date to see the Dead Babies in all their true glory.

See you there.

Carnival / ArtAttack Photobooth

14 Jun

The dust finally settled in Georgetown and best we can tell the neighborhood is, we think,  still intact.

Swinging through the Georgetown Brewing Co’s beer garden around 3pm on Saturday might’ve left the impression that the end was near, and everyone just wanted to party one last time before it was all whisked away. Or maybe it was just a nice, sunny Saturday. Either way, the Carnival was a blast.

We’ve done compiled us a little gallery containing a few shots from Saturday, a mixed bag if you will from the roving photobooth to some candid street-style shooting from Rich. Have at it over here.

A big thanks to the organizers, volunteers and artists that made it all happen. We’re already thinking forward to next year. In the meantime, get at some Vecta PhotoBooth action:

The enduring Vecta Photobooth, bringing out your true talents and overall weirdness since 2011.

The gallery is located here (and as always, the password is “vecta”). Feel free to download them and display at your heart’s content. Thanks again to everyone who came by the studio during the day and evening, and keep tuned to the blog, facebook, and the twitters for info on upcoming events at the Gallery.

Part III: the GT Carnival Saga Continues

11 Jun

Wow. Just managed to squeeze into Georgetown Liquor Company for a bomber sandwich and nachos. EVERYTHING in G-town is packed, as the crowd filters into the bars. Hopefully, everyone sticks around for the ArtAttack! going through 9pm.

Here’s some more eye candy from earlier:

GT Carnival, Live: Part 2

11 Jun

Tony again. I would just like to take a moment and say,

Dear Georgetown, I love you.

Floods of people are milling about, taking advantage of some pretty spectacular weather. It’s hard to walk through some places with hundreds crammed in all over. It seems like a fairly eclectic mix of people, from families to bikers to steam punks… you name it. So far, the vibe is great.

If you’re contemplating coming down, you will most certainly regret missing this party. Here’s a small sample of some portraits from earlier. I’ve got some editing to do!

Live from the GT Carnival

11 Jun

Hey hey everyone,

Tony here dropping a quick post as the Georgetown Carnival gets underway. There’s all kinds of games, music, power tool racing, weird people, food, and of course beer throughout the heart of Georgetown. We’re featuring a bunch of artists with all sorts of variety, so come on by today through tonight as Carnival gives way to ArtAttack!

We’re also roving around with a mobile version of the Vecta PhotoBooth. Here’s a quick sample from a just few minutes ago:

More to come!

Cat photo

2011 May 14 - A cat offered for adoption is shown at the Average Joe Cat Show in Shoreline, WA. The cat show is a benefit for Purrfect Pals cat adoption organization and sanctuary. Photo by Richard Walker/Vecta Photo

While a lot of the work here at Vecta Photo involves commercial photography in and around Seattle, every so often it’s nice to get off the beaten path and wander into new territory. So last Saturday I ventured up to Shoreline to check out the 2011 Average Joe Cat Show.

It’s hard to go wrong walking into a gym stuffed with cats and owners who are way into them.

Right out of the gate, the fun (for the photographer, anyway) started with the costume contest.

More contests followed, with cats (and owners) vying for all sorts of categories such as best cage decoration, or longest whiskers, biggest feet… the list went on.

The rest of the time was an exercise of my sticking my camera into the snouts of curious cats. A good time had by all…

And I’m still trying to decipher the last cat’s gesture… any thoughts?
